Every Dancer needs to find their inner Beyoncé…

  • By

Every dancer has there insecurities and feels self-conscious at some point in there dancing career. This is a completely normal feeling, however the sooner you find your inner strength and self-confidence the sooner you will develop your dancing skills.

Sometimes dancers are mistaken for being over confident and at times cocky, this is often there dancing alter ego and not the real them.

Take Beyoncé for an example, she is Beyoncé by day and ‘Sasha Fierce’ when she performs. She has created this character to use as a cover up for the real her. Sasha Fierce is a strong, independent woman, who is confident, bold and stands out in a crowd. This alter ego had made her the performer that we all want to be.

‘I have someone else that takes over when it’s time for me to work and when I’m on stage, this alter ego that I’ve created that kind of protects me and who I really am, she is confident and successful and helps me to be the best I can be without letting my insecurities creep in”

Beyoncé Knolls, Sep 2012

So the key is, create yourself a character. Someone who is not scared of being at the front and has self-belief and watch the results unfold. You will no longer be the dancer at the back who is worried what other people think, or the dancer who thinks they look silly if they give it too much energy….you will be the dancer that stands out!

You Should Know Ballerinas Are More Hardcore Than You

  • By

While reading and looking at this post I couldn’t help but think that most of the normal human beings of the world will never understand us dancers.

Ballet is the hardest discipline ever, you are not born a ballerina, you have to earn to be one or any dancer for that matter, it really is blood sweat and tears and anyone telling you any different is lying.

Those of you reading this post that are dancers or have been dancers, its okay to cry, its okay to have injuries, its okay to feel that you want to give up……………this is normal and healthy, the important thing to remember though is to have these bouts of despair then pick yourself back up very quickly, shake them off and continue the struggle to be the best you can be………….the only person judging you is YOU!!

The photos within the posts are not made up, this is real life of the ballerina, but please look at the joyful lady in red, it really is exhilarating to leap and fly through the air, us dancers have the power to do this…….so do it!!
