I have been working at Flipside for 10 years and I think this speaks for itself. The students are so wonderful to teach and I look forward to seeing them progress every week. It is a very well organised school which is particularly impressive when considering the wide variety of dancing covered and the fact that it offers exams and an annual end-of-year show. ‘The children are so eager to learn and motivated which is just lovely to see and makes my job an absolute pleasure’. The other teachers are now my friends as well so it feels like a big family and somewhere, I love to be.
Flipside was the school where I first learnt to dance. It gave me the skills, passion and work ethic to go on to make dance my profession. Now, after years away, I love that I can come back to Flipside and give back to the school that started my journey. The students at Flipside have so much energy and life which makes them an absolute joy to teach; together with the talented and supportive teachers Flipside is a very welcoming family.
I absolutely love teaching at Flipside! The vibrant energy, creativity, and passion at the school is really motivating. Watching the students grow, not only as dancers but also as confident individuals, is incredibly rewarding. The supportive community at Flipside makes it a joy to come to work, and I feel privileged to be part of such a talented and dedicated team’.
My Flipside journey started almost 17 years ago with a single hip hop class on a Thursday evening with Miss Debs. Only in our wildest dreams would we have imagined that Flipside would have grown into the school it is today. I have always admired the professionalism and commitment of those who lead the school but also their skill, talent and creativity. I have had the privilege of working with the Flipside teachers during daily classes, summer schools, grueling rehearsals and wonderful performances. Flipside provides an inclusive and supportive environment for all its learners, encouraging every child to fulfil their potential. This may include the outstanding performer who goes on to follow a career in dance but it also includes the shy beginner in their first ballet class. We all want our children to feel safe, enjoy what they are doing and develop the resilience to cope with setbacks. Flipside aims to do all this and to encourage most of all a love of dance.
