At aged 16, Spanish born Filipino, John-Mathew Aben aka Jumar ‘Jumanji’ began as a freestyle mover. Beginning his professional training at the centre of advance training at LABAN and Barnet college with classical technique in ballet, contemporary release and Cunningham.

Whilst studying classical techniques, he became passionate about hip hop dance, commercial and funk styles. Training alongside various hip hop dance crews including D-youngaz, Avant Garde Youth and A-team, graduating from the university of East London with a BA in Urban dance, since 2014. He discovered various urban and world dance styles including popping, house, capoeira, hip hop, kalaripayattu and bharatanatyam.

Credits include Malta music awards 2012, London New Year’s Day parade 2012, breakin convention 2014, Queen’s coronation, Resolutions at the place, them and us music video, Adobe & Malmö festival.

Choreography credits include RND for His Indian Boyfriend at Stratford Theatre & collaborative choreographer for Subhash Vinman.

Production credits includes Olivier award hip-hop dance company Boy Blue Ent ‘The five and the prophecy of prana’ national and international tour and upcoming contemporary company B-Hybrid Dance ‘Breaking Breath’ touring Ireland in 2016.

He is currently working on his own creative work, sharing his knowledge through teaching all ages and abilities, co-founded experimental movement company JUJU Ent and planning an event that unites dance artists, musicians, creative artists and communities together to build a new generation of collaborative individual artists.
